Perhaps it was precisely this rawness that made me realize that URSA, here on Rua Roberto Ivens, articulates a fundamental tension that has characterized architecture since industrialization. It is the tension between the system, i.e., the relationship between elements, and the form, i.e., the shape of objects. The system is, if you will, connected to the realm of machines, to repetition, mechanics, norms. Form, on the other hand, stems from the specificity of the human body, its singularity, its organic metabolism, and its transience.
