(…) SO–IL stands for SOLID OBJECTIVES IDENBURG LIU. SO–IL could also have been written as SOIL. And soil could mean grounded – a free interpretation here, but not without meaning. Understanding is indeed what SO–IL stands for: from creation to life. However, the hyphen in between says it all: it stands for those places or spaces that are weighed in between, as well as the unexpected twist. Thus, the word ground becomes the word understanding, and Liu and Idenburg and SO–IL as a team draw their own architecture that not only approaches what architecture seems to be about, but also takes an unexpected turn.
