AMAG PT 12 ATELIER BUGIO . JOÃO FAVILA MENEZES
With works spread across the archipelago of Madeira, where the practice was founded in 1980, and through the mainland, where it is now based, Bugio practice underwent a shift in its orientation from 1988, when João Favila became its director.
Since then, the work has been demanding by a consistent attention to the way each project engages with the public realm. A clearly evident concern in the recent works presented at this title, taking the redesign of several public spaces in Lisbon as example, by introducing mechanical means that propose new ways of inhabiting the city. Among these, the intervention in the Graça district deserves particular mention, due to the complexity with which multiple functions are articulated within a space of very modest dimensions.”José Manuel Pedreirinho
