SB 02 FREDERICO VALSASSINA | casa em colares
Situated in a dense pine forest is a remarkable house designed by Portuguese architect Frederico Valsassina. Sensitive to the natural surroundings and integrated with the site’s topography through minimal impact, the seasonal residence evokes an unexpected sense of being outside and inside simultaneously. Elevated slightly from the ground, the stark, white orthogonal structure seems to gently float in space. Ample glazing is strategically placed to take advantage of the climate, passively regulating the comfort of its occupants. A series of black-and-white photographs and architectural drawings serves to document the project in its entirety.
